Unfortunately, I some how managed to close my back lift gate of my car on my iPhone 7 plus yesterday afternoon.

Screen protector was shattered but not a scratch on the screen itself. Phone comes on but touchscreen doesn't work. Different colored lines are all over the phone and circle shaped ink like black puddle under the screen. I think this was caused due to the phone bending. It's somewhat warped still but not much.

Bluetooth somewhat works when automatically connects to car so I can somewhat make calls but the audio goes out around 25 seconds or so and no one can hear me.

It appears I have around 20 days of warranty left and I know this isn't something that is covered but coming here for advice..

Am I looking at $349 for fixing it? (not sure if it can be fixed??) Maybe the screen just needs replaced and it will work but not sure. It looks like that would cost $149.

If it is $349 or more, I don't know what I should do... Obviously the new phone will be announced and maybe in stores on Sept 22nd. I don't have another phone to use (if I were going to wait and buy an 8 or a cheaper 7 plus once 8 is announced) Also my wife leaves today for a work trip so I'll be with our 2 kids without a working phone lol.. Not a good situation.

Anyway sorry for the long post.. Any chance my phone gets fixed for free or at a discounted rate? I can only hope :(

Apple would only cover for manufacturers defects and breakdowns but not if caused by the customer so sadly you would be charged. Only apple can say how much tho as they will need to see what is damaged to ascertain a cost.

Thanks for the response! That is what I was thinking. I will see what happens

Can't help with advice on fixing the phone but if it's going to be expensive to fix then I'd look at getting a cheap prepaid phone to hold you over until they announce the new phones, just to see what they do. I'd hate to spend $500 fixing a phone with a new, better one potentially around the corner.

My wife had to take it to an apple store because I have to work some today. They said it is not the screen but a part under the screen and can be fixed. $149... They said they are still a little worried with it being slightly bent but it should be okay.

Hopefully it does work.. best case scenario.. Glad it wasn't 350+

Good to hear it's not bad. To be honest it's going to be a long wait until the iPhone 8. I'd hate to be away from a phone like the 7 plus with a burner phone for that long. Even id pay the 150 to keep it going even for 4-5 months!

I woudlnt be surprised if they just gave you a full replacement for the 150 as an act of good will.
