Hello,

I have a dual setup SSD + HDD. The HDD is placed in an optibay on the place where the optical drive once was.

I thought my HDD was broken because of a little ticking noise and Disk Utility says SMART Status: Foult.

I bought a new HDD, cloned it and replaced it. But my mac booted weird and was very slow. Disk utility said that the new HDD needs to be restored.

So i switcht the old HDD again and connected the new HDD with the SATA usb cable and ran a check on the disk, but now there isn't a problem.

Is my cable broken or did i something wrong when cloning it?

Thanks in advance.

Sounds like you have a bad drive cable in there. Fairly common problem. You can order them online for a few bucks.
