All,

I just bought an iBook with a busted CD-ROM drive. It came loaded with OS 9.2. How can I upgrade this to Panther?

I've tried putting the CD in another Mac on my network and running it from the iBook but it bombs out because that is a network volume.

Any help? Step by step instructions would be apprieciated.

Thanks.

You might try this... not sure if it will work, but worth a shot:

connect the 2 macs via a firewire cable
turn on the iBook and hold down the T key
(this will start it up as a firewire hard drive)
The iBook hard drive should mount on your other mac's desktop.
Then, try to install panther on that volume from your other mac.
