After 4 problem free years with my Series5 TI, I dropped it on my bedroom floor last week. My house is very modern and has almost no carpeting just porcelain tile floors. I was putting the watch on my wrist as I have done hundreds of times. Grey elastomer band. Thought I had the pin in the hole so I let go of watch. It fell to the floor (about 4 feet) right on the glass. My heart sank. See attached photo. It still works fine but looks not so good. Smashed in the lower right corner and a crack going from lower right to left center. I researched glass replacement. I might have read it wrong but Apple wants $499 to replace the glass. The watch in excellent condition is only worth around $150. The math doesn’t make sense. Is that price right ($499)??? Are there alternative glass replacement options. I did end up buying an Ultra which I was going to purchase as a second watch anyhow but I sure would like my 5TI back on good looking condition.

Contact Apple or visit a store if you're close. Since Ti was the "edition" watch, they might do something for you, doesn't hurt to ask. I assume you do not have AC+?
personally, I would not use any 3rd party place to replace the glass on an AW ... Apple themselves don't replace the glass, they give you a refurb ...

Thank you JZ. I had AC+ but was only good for 2 years and I believe it doesn’t cover broken glass. I have 2 Apple stores not far from me so I might check with them. I agree that it can’t hurt. I too would not give watch to a 3rd party for any repairs. Just my personal preference.

Actually, AC+ covers accidental damage so broken glass due to a drop should be covered. Part of why I have it, and while my Ultra and my Ti S7 are quite robust, you never know what might happen.
You can now go month to month on AC+ after the first 2 years…

AC+ most definitely covers a broken screen. I feel your pain, I dropped my first S4 18" from a swimming locker onto tiles. I tend to use a sport loop now as it is unlikely to slip off accidentally when released.
