This is a bit of a long shot, but has anyone else encountered an issue with HEIC images on Mojave not displaying correctly? I went on a weekend trip out of town and took lots of pictures in HEIC format on my Galaxy S10 that I just got the day before, and none of them render properly in macOS but work 100% fine on the phone itself...

They render as 512x512px images with dozens of blocks in the file rather than one single image.
Some of the more recent ones I've taken in the last day or two do show up correctly however.

Any idea what on earth would cause them to show like that? I wanted to import the pictures as is without having to convert, but it's looking like I may just need to pull them off Google Photos and switch back to JPG shooting. HEVC Videos are fine however.

Example:

I would try to view them on Windows but last I checked it can't view them in the first place, unless that has recently changed.

Windows does have HEIC/HEIF support: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/heif-image-extensions/9pmmsr1cgpwg?activetab=pivot:overviewtab
