A friend of mine was installing Panther on one of his Macs when he accidentally pulled the plug, naturally the Mac turned off and the install was halted. Now every time the Mac is started up nothing happens although the computer is switched on, he tried putting the install disc in and holding C but to no avail.

Anybody got any ideas?

Maybe hook it up to another Mac try booting into Firewire mode (is that for portables only?). If that works format the harddrive from the other machine and try the install again.

You could also try holding down "apple" + "option" + "O" + "F" and see what comes up. If it boots into open firmware, put in the install cd and type "boot cd" (without the quotes) and hit enter. This will boot the computer off the disk so he can re-install.
