Phone fell out of my pocket getting out of the car today. Screen is all cracked but it still works fine. It's a 3G and I am not eligible for the full subsidy until December.

I'm thinking about just selling it on eBay for about 200 bucks (and keeping the SIM card) and then buying a 3GS 16gb for $399.

There won't be any problems with doing that.. right? Is there anything I need to do before I ship the phone (contact at&t, etc), or am I good as long as I keep the SIM card? Thanks

There may be, I don't know - but at this point, I'd rather just sell it for $200 and then take the other $200 out of pocket and have a brand new 3GS.

I think your options are to fix it at a price or sell it? I don't know who'd buy it but....

You should wipe it before selling it or taking it back to be fixed for sure!

Man there tutorials to fix your iPhone, he'll it's pretty easy as I use disassemble my iBook and that was complex. The iPhone 3g much simpler given the proper tools. Hell, send it my way and I'll fix it as a summer project.

Am I the only one who thinks 200 bucks for an iPhone with a screen that's "all cracked" seems out of touch?

Replace the screen through Apple for $200, go to other companies, or buy the glass screen yourself and risk repairing it on your own.

The chances of it selling for $200 are slim. Probably $150 at best.

You'd be better off doing to $199 replacement, and then selling it in December and upgrade then.
