So my wife’s iPhone 6 Plus crapped out on her. The touch screen no longer responds. We have an appointment at the Apple Store tomorrow, but I’m assuming that they won’t be able to do anything about it and it will cost a good deal to fix. So I guess it is time to finally consider a new phone. Will probably go with a 7 or an 8. With the new release impending should we still hold out to see what happens, or will there be hardly any change to the 7’s and 8’s? Will their prices (new) drop much if at all?

They will likely be able to do something for you, but as you stated it will cost you.

As for the 2018 iPhone line up, if it is anything like the 2017 you will see (and this is all speculative):
  • iPhone 6s drop
  • iPhone 7 $449-$499
  • iPhone 8 $599
  • iPhone X $699
  • iPhone XS (LCD) $799
  • iPhone XS (OLED) $899
  • iPhone XS (OLED, plus) $999
All prices reflective of the lowest storage option. Speculation based off 2017 lineup:
