Just got an iMac G5 (don't know exactly what version, but DDR1 and no iVision) with broken LCD. Any idea where to look for replacement? Does something from the PC world fit?

I say eBay, there might not be any, so look for a donor unit. Other sites may have it but you have to be specific about the model number

17".
Unfortunately I think you are too far away geographically. I guess shipping to Europe would cost a little fortune.

I am not sure if European countries have Craigslist but I would look there or any other popular classifieds site for a whole parts machine. Another option is eBay, but sadly prices on parts can be astronomical on there. Since you have a basic model, you are going to be able to source the part relatively easily.

I know in Germany a charity shop chain exist, but you can't search them online and they mostly sell books and clothes. On the other hand I never really understood how Craiglist works or what it is exactly.

I'm wondering if I could use the optical drive from the iMac in my iBook G4 (equipped at the moment with a combo drive, burning DVD would be nice)?
