Broken screen and MacBook

I have an old G3 iBook that has a busted screen. I'd like to pull old photos and music off it using Firewire. Is that even possible? And if so, how? Could i also use it to backup my fancy new Macbook?

Your old iBook if it has FireWire is a nice big ol' hard drive using Target Disk Mode.

I think you can use target mode to pull you photos off. Google target mode for info.
