This is driving me NUTS!

My MacBook Pro 14 (Nov 2024) will connect to my home WIFI zero issue, runs smooth and lovely, but it will not under any circumstances connect to my phone as a Hotspot or any external wifi network of any kind.

Any ideas as im coming up very very stuck!

Check the IPv4 settings are set to "Use DHCP" - see here https://support.apple.com/en-gb/guide/mac-help/mh14129/mac - you may have to do this when connected to a "non-working" network like cafe or hotspot. Whilst you're there, go to the DNS tab and make sure there are no manually configured DNS servers - it's hard to explain what I mean but when you're on the DNS tab all the entries should be in grey (i.e. non-modifiable; supplied by the router). Manually added ones are in black and you can click them and the little minus icon.

I'd advise you to reset all network settings on BOTH Mac and iPhone. My iPhone works just fine as a hotspot for iPad and Macbook Pro FYI.

Just out of curiosity you do have ask to join another networks and hotspots setected under your wifi settings. I know it sounds silly, but that happened to me in the past and caused problems connecting my iPhone via hotspot.

Did it ever worked? Does ur cellular carrier allows hotspot?

In my case tethering a USB cable works instantly but for some reason going WIFI takes minutes for the SSID to appear.
