Broken wireless mouse round navigation thingy

The grey round thing in my Apple wireless mouse is broken, it will work going up but not going down.

I put my ear to it while turning it and I heard the normal sound when going up but another one when going down, like nothing was happening.

My brother who was using it at the time said that it just randomly stopped working properly.

Is this covered by the warranty? Is there anyway to fix it?

No problem, I fixed it myself thanks to OS X Hints, I just pushed on the ball hard and moved it up and down and it fixed it. I guess there was something lodged in there.
