I remember there was a way to 'SSH' into an iPhone using Bonjour, the iPhone came up under shared on finder, and then you could do all your SSH'ing through the finder.

I cant for the life of me remember what its called though, i tried retracing my steps but no luck :(

I believe that by SSH you mean transferring files from/to the iphone to/from your computer. And While you can do that using SSH (you need SSH server running on the iPhone and a SSH client on your PC, on OS X is already build into terminal) is not exactly what you are describing.

you can use bonjour to "discover" a share in the iPhone for this, you need to have a program that can share the iPhone file system, on the JB side, there is iFile Web server that initialized WebDAV Service with Bonjour at the iPhone , from the Apple store Air Sharing (works great) and some other.

That way you can mount your iPhone like a local harddrive and exchange files.

You can also use PhoneDisk which does the same thing over USB (doesn't need bonjour)

Well yes, I remember using a file sharing system that used bonjour to allow me to use Finder, no other app.

Its not iFile, it runs silently, im fairly sure.

Of course its Jailbroken, why i posted it in the hacks section, never understood people who ask that.

fwiw, cyberduck works well, and is free.

(i can also 'see' my phone on my mac network, and can access files in the air sharing folder, but otherwise...nada...)

If you search Cydia for "netatalk" and install it, you'll be able to browse your iphone system files through finder, provided you're on the same wifi connection.

This is the only way to do what OP is talking about (browse iphone file system natively in finder)

I would also download the netatalk SBSettings toggle so you only appear on people's networks when you want. The icon in SBSettings will be AFP.

.

fix.

There are other options using USB or serial  which if you are paranoid as I am, it is a better option since I don't really want a network service running on the background that can be exploit it.

I use Cyberduck atm, but Netatalk sounds like the thing i was after!

i use iFile when i'm not at a computer and Iphone Browser when i'm at a computer. I used SSH before but found IB easier to use. SSH is nice though when you cant find a cable. But for the 99% of the time, iFile and Iphone Browser do the job for me.

You mean sftp, not SSH. When people say they use SSH, that typically means they are using a terminal program with SSH to log into the shell.
