Hi all,

At home I have a work PC laptop, and my personal Mac mini, both connected to the internet (and each other) through an Ethernet switch. They are also both connected to a single monitor that has a built-in KVM. So I can switch between the two through a few button presses on the monitor.

Due to my work my PC laptop is highly protected which means I cannot install any software at all, access many sites (even something like Backstabbr which is a website to play Diplomacy), or even use my Brother all-in-one's scanner function (printing works fine though). So to do any of these I have to switch back to my Mini, which can be a bit annoying if I want to look at my work stuff at the same time.

I have tried to use Google Remote Desktop to log into my Mini through a Chrome window - this works great, except that of course it works over the internet which means latency is pretty bad. Does anyone know of a browser-based VNC solution that might work? FYI I cannot even install Chrome extensions, so VNC Viewer is out of the question.

Latency is not great either even if you have a dedicated Gigabit ethernet connection using VNCViewer for the PC as I use my PC for work related stuff and Mini for graphics and using VNC is tolerable and so I gave up and switched to using Yam Display with my iPad as the second display for the Mac. I noticed on your tag line that you have an iPad Air 4. Have you considered using your iPad Air 4 as your external monitor for the Mini using Yam Display? That way, you can have a dedicated always-on display for your Mini. You can mirror the main screen of your Mini to the Yam Display. It's a cheaper alternative other than buying a dedicated monitor for your Mini and there's no lag on the Yam Display as it can do either 30FPS and 60FPS for browsing and editing. You can try it out free for 5 mins at a time just to see if you can play those games.
