I cannot access the internet with Safari (v5.1.1) on my work computer. I'm able to access our network, print to network printers and get e-mail, but when I attempt to access the internet, Safari opens but just churns away. Pages don't load, and I don't get any messages. I'm also having same issues with Firefox, so I don't think this is a Safari-specific issue.

I asked my supervisors to see if access was blocked, but they said no. IT is of very little help since I work in mostly a PC environment and Mac help is sparse at best.

I've emptied cache and reset Safari, no luck.

I've run Disk Utility First Aid (verifying and repairing disk permissions), no luck.

I've plugged the network cable into different outlet, no luck.

I have a 2.66g Quad Core Intel Mac running OS 10.6.8. Software update indicates everything is up to date.

Nothing has been added or installed on the computer recently.

I think this is a network-related issue more than a browser-related issue, but I don't know where to go from here.

Any help or suggestions world be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
