Using a mac mini with the latest macOS, 15.6.1. I usually have my browser window open on my desktop. Lately, when I've opened another app that should be overlayed on top of my current browser window, the current browser seems to slide off the desktop to the right, and all that's on my desktop is the new window for the new app. This is not what I want to happen, I want the new window to be opened on top of my current browser window. Don't know why this has started to happen. I have Stage Manager disabled. Something has changed to create this new, undesirable behavior. I've been looking around the internet, and I haven't found a solution to stopping this.

Does anyone know how to stop the desktop manager from removing current window when I open a new app? Any ideas for this would be welcome, this really costs me time since I'm spending more time shifting around windows that I'd like.

Thanks!

I've never used Mission Control. I did do what I saw on the internet to disable Mission Control and still see the problem. Got no idea what's going on here. In order to get my browser back after it's been slid off my desktop to the right, I have to click on the browser icon in the dock. Pretty frustrating.

Thanks...someone out there has got to have had the same problem and fixed it somehow. Sure would like to hear.

Sounds like your browser is in "exclusive fullscreen" or "full screen tile" mode which happens when pressing the green button in the upper left.

My browser is not currently in fullscreen mode, but certainly seems to be in some sort of "exclusive" mode. I'd love to know how to get it out of this mode.

I wonder if turning/toggling off "Animate opening applications" in the Desktop & Dock settings would help?
