-UPDATE- Problem solved !

Hi,
I have a problem with my 24" Aluminium iMac (with Snow Leopard)
The problem is, when I try to download something, no matter what (an app from the Apple website's download section, a torrent, a song,...) nothing happens...

I tried it with another browser (FireFox) and it didn't work either...
I'm a little afraid that I will have to re-install Snow Leopard and lose all of my files... (Time Machine isn't configured, because I don't have an empty external hard drive...)
Downloading attachments (Word files for example) in Mail, however, works fine...

So when i click the download icon (of any kind) it just loads for half a second and does nothing, instead of showing the downloadscreen and starting the download...

Please help.
Thanks in advance,
Ilias

Do you have Speed Download installed by any chance?

See this thread if you do.

If not, try the basics first:
- Restart your Mac.
- Repair permissions.

HarryPot,
Firstly, thanks for the fast reply ! ;)

To answer your question, well I did have Speed Download, but I deleted it (using AppZapper) a while ago. When I use spotlight and search for speed download, it only shows the plugin, which can't be deleted (permanently) because it says it is in use...
Speed Download isn't even in my programs list as well...

hold in alt whilst trying to delete the plugin or boot the mac into safemode (hold shift in whilst turning on) and then delete it

Hero !

It worked, I deleted it in safe mode and now I can download again !
Thank you very much !
