Is there a way to get BT LE on a classic Mac Pro 4,1?

Thank you.

I am thinking of trying to "upgrade" my 2011 imac from the built in Bluetooth 2.1 to 4.0/LE. I searched to forums, and it looks possible using this bluetooth dongle:

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B007GFX0PY

It has native drivers built into Mavericks, and it is popular with the Hackintosh crowd as it just works without modifications to the system.

Apple also has some developer tools that others have used to switch between the built in bluetooth and the USB dongle, I am not sure if they are required or not, people have used them to verify if the internal or USB bluetooth is the active device. The software is called Bluetooth Explorer.

Here is the link to the Hardware IO Tools for Xcode, which contains Bluetooth Explorer, if needed: (I think I signed up for a free apple account some time ago, you may need to as well to download them.)

I am still trying to sort everything out, I want to make sure that I can still get into recovery and other special options using the USB bluetooth, and get the coming advantages of Yosemite's pairing with my iPad & iPhone.

Anyway, I ordered the dongle above to experiment with and see if I can use that to upgrade my bluetooth to 4.0/LE, and any potential disadvantages I find.
