Hello Everyone,

So, I am back downstairs into OS 9 given the new web goodies and trying out everything. So, I did a disk check and I am getting a btree 0,0... error and I was told on OS9 LIVES that Norton Disk Doctor 6.0.5 will get rid of this, has anyone had luck is getting rid of this error ? So, I have a 512GB M2-SATA in my G4 PowerBook Titanium. Leopard works great and reports no errors, while OS 9 is showing a btree error. How do I get rid of this error ?

DiskWarrior is usually the best for this kind of thing and I would use that in preference to Norton or TTPro. If you can still boot into OS9, I would back up what you need as you might find you need to wipe and reinstall. Some btree errors defy repair.

First things, first, try repairing the disk using Disk Utility run from another volume or your Installation Disk. It might be something minor.

I wouldn't trust it. Best practice is to clone the harddrive and just re-image it, that will certainly get rid of it.
Don't know which OS9 program would be good for cloning though.
Maybe others can chime in.

I did read years back that Norton Disk Doctor 6 and other OS 9 versions were harmful to disks and its best to use other utils, such as the diskwarrior for OS 9 to fix a disk. I have OS 9 disk warrior. Good news is that I was able to boot into Leopard and 9 after NDD fixed the disk. the B-tree error disappeared.
