I have a 160GB drive I got about a year and a half ago. It's not too bad. Haven't had any problems with it. It's got a WD drive inside. My only gripe is that they don't come in FireWire, or at least that I've seen.

Does any one have any experience with Buffalo hard drives? I'm in the market for an external drive, and new egg has a 300 gb HDD available for $99.99: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822165007

If not, I'll probably get a western digital hard drive that's 250 GB and costs $120.

Buffalo does not make hard drives they make boxes. Wouldn't it be funny if the Buffalo box contained a WD drive? Then you would be deciding between a 300GB WD drive for $99 or a 250GB WD drive for $120. Such is likely the case.

I've got a 250GB Buffalo Linkstation and its been great for me. Cooling fan could be a little quieter, but then I do have it in a rather exposed area. Definitely worth the outlay IMHO, and nice to have it in matching Apple white :)

Thanks a lot. I'll probably wait until thanksgiving to see if I can get any specials around that time of year, and if not, I'll grab the Buffalo one. Thanks.
