In the last 2 weeks I have had to reset my SMC daily. After turning the computer off, or going to sleep for a long time, the device starts to show charging faults. Either "battery is not charging" (while plugged in) or the device discharging while plugged in. Have you experienced this? I have 2 charges and they both work fine... but the issue arises using both. SMC reset does the trick for the entire day, until it happens again the next day.

Apple Support recommended repair of the laptop. I suggested a software issue, but they are saying it's hardware. However, looks like others are having the same problem (ALL IN THE PAST 2 WEEKS)?

Same problem. I didn't have to go as far as a SMC reset.

Ended up turning the Battery Health option off and on in System Preferences -> Energy Saver and replugging in my power adapter.

I think it might be discharging by design. It would definitely make sense since it's happening on newer machines in the last two weeks (when the Battery Health feature started rolling out in 10.15.5).
