Bug in Preview when switching between windows

I have encountered a rather annoying bug when using the Preview application while running Leopard 10.5.4.

I have one of the buttons on my Microsoft mouse customized to switch between windows in any given application (Freehand, photoshop, firefox, etc.) However, when I have any number of windows open within the Preview application it ceases to work. When I press the mouse button, all of the open windows within Preview disappear! It only happens in Preview for some reason. Has anyone else encountered this problem? If so can you please suggest a remedy?
