Dear all,

I hope I'm posting this in the right place. It's a matter of some urgency and I need some practical advice.

I use a (very old) iBook G4. I've put all my iTunes on an external harddrive. I've noticed that sometimes when I close the laptop (which of course puts it automatically to sleep), it doesn't seem to recognise the external harddrive when I open again. So generally I avoid doing it.

I'm currently working using a large sound file (transcribing a lecture) and I inadvertently closed my laptop. Since I've opened it again, I can't access the file, indeed when I search in the iTunes library in the appropriate folder, I can see the folder's name, but with no icon, and when I click on the name, it vanishes, leaving only the other elements in the same file.

I suspect that I need to empty a "recently used file" folder or something, but have no idea how to proceed!
Please help! I really need to finish this transcription!!
