bug with the ambient light sensor in thunderbolt display since update of yosemite

I am wondering if anyone else is having this problem. I have updated yosemite to the latest version and now the ambient light sensor in the control panel is not working correctly. Despite the tick in place the slider to control the brightness is not budging!

Anyone else had this? if so how did you fix it?

I have tried a PRAM reset and as well a SMC reset nothing has worked.
