My wife recently dropped her brand new phone into some water.
The repair shop said it is unrepairable but surely all the parts are available and even replacing all of them would be cheaper than buying a new phone wouldn't it?

Also presumably if you bought all the parts you could build a brand new phone from scratch couldn't you?

Everything works except the screen - a new phone in the Uk is £500 a new screen £50 a new motherboard £80 aren't they the most expensive parts.

Even after you buy all these parts, it still might not work. All you have to do is pay the "out of warranty" replacement cost ($199 in the U.S., I think $229 in England and other places).
