Does anyone know how to tell the build date on the new iPhone’s? In the past I’ve used the chipmunk site or the coconut ID. They would give the build week, neither seem to work with the new phones. Thanks

Unfortunately with the new serial format you can’t. It’s now a randomized Serial number and it’s only 10 digit rather than 12 Digit.

Thanks for the info. I noticed it only had 10 digits, wonder why they switched that up?

What’s so randomized about it? If it never changes?
While your device never changes, in the past it’s always assigned, LIke you always know which factory it was made and when it was built. Apple did start doing this changes for the ipad as well.

Just head to analytics data and look for the date of the very first entry. This is the date the new iPhone was installed / fired up in factory for the first time. I think that's the easiest way for the new "randomized" devices.

Even easier: Go to settings / cellular data. Scroll down to the button that lets You reset the statistics. Below that is an entry which lists the last reset. This corresponds to the first analytics file named in my last post.

The date of the very first entry on mine is 09/29. My phone was delivered on 09/24.

Are we talking about the very first analytics file or the line below "reset statistics"?

Mine was first started by me on 09/26, but had a first analytics file and last reset from 09/04...

I don’t see a “reset statistics” I went to privacy/analytics

"Reset statistics" is under settings => mobile data (I don't know the right translation, mine isn't set up as English).

Maybe the old analytics files get deleted once You do an update. Did You do one? I didn't and had those files...

I did update yesterday. That’ll be a real bummer if it got deleted. Can you check again after you do the update?

Sorry, I returned my 13 Pro yesterday. So I can't check anymore. Or it was a flaw in the shipped iOS 15 version, which was a build before the final...

What if you use a Mac/PC app that finds that? For example CoconutBattery tells me the manufacture date of the iPhone and Battery separately (Device info and Battery info respectively).

With the 10 Digit, coconutBattery can only read the battery manufacturing date. It won't read the build date of the phone anymore.

I tried coconut id, it didn’t recognize the number.

Basically CoconutBattery only tells the battery built date and not the manufacture date of the device. Of course, the battery manufacture date won't tell much either because the battery manufacture date and the phone build dates will always be on a different week. They aren't really on the same week at all (I have yet to see one).

As for the Analytic method, I think this may only work if you set up the device right out of the box without plugging it to the computer. Not sure.

Eitherway, I honestly don't care about the build date. I understand that sometimes the build date may help others especially when it comes to defects. But I think Apple wants to hid that from us lol.
