I just noticed a rather cheap Blu-ray rewriter drive here . If I fitted it into a CD/DVD external drive enclosure would it be recognised as a Blu-Ray device by MacOSX?

You will need one that has native SATA connector. And go for firewire external connector (not USB only).

I am pretty sure that you need a third party burning software to recognize the blu-ray. One of those software is Roxio Toast.

Probably not the cheapest, but I still haven't seen any external drives for much below £400 (815US). I just saw that one and had a brainstorm, but if I can get that working for half the price... fantastic :D

I've been interested in this one for some time.. but a bit too expensive just yet.

what type of interface is needed to externally mount the fastmac tray loading blu-ray drive?

I want to pick one up and use it on my G4 until I get the new mac pro (any day now!!!!)
