Hi,

I plan to build an external HD and looking for some suggestions,

I would like an enclosure that looks similair to the mac pro enclosure. i know ive seen them before but cannot find them online.

as far as ATA drives what are the most affordable/reliable

does connecting SATA get expensive/difficult or would FW or USB2.0 be better?

thanks for the help!

Look at the Mercury AL drives from http://www.macsales.com

I have a single and dual enclosure and they rock. Bought the single with a drive from them - put 2 drives from newegg into the dual enclosure. Piece of cake. The dual enclosure that's $119 has firewire 400/800/USB. As far as I've read - SATA and 800 are similar in speed so I would go with that enclosure.

sorry one more thing, is it possible to take my HD out of my emac and throw into the enclosure?
