Hello everyone,
I'd like to know if someone has experience with built-in macOs/iOS apps iCloud syncing among different os versions.
I have an iPhone 12, a 9 gen iPad and a 27 inch 2019 i5 iMac with 24Gb of RAM. Mobile devices are using iOS 17 and these will likely be upgradeable to iOS 18, whereas I feel like my iMac will stick to Sonoma.
I'm not going to upgrade the iMac because it completely fits my needs, and I'm not worried about security issues because I'm a careful user and Apple grants 2 years of security patches... I'll then move to a different browser.
Nevertheless, since I deeply rely on Apple/iCloud ecosystem, I'm a little bit afraid about calendar, notes, reminders and especially photos interoperability between different iOS/macOS releases.
I know that nobody knows about future Apple plans, but I'd like to get some feedback from users running iOS 17 with Ventura, Monterey, Big Sur or even Catalina:
  • Do reminders, notes, calendars and photos sync between recent and legacy releases?
  • Are unsupported features simply ignored on older versions or you run into issues?
  • There are major syncing problems?
