I have an iBook G4, PPC CPU, with OS X 10.5.8. My internet connection works fine through an airport express router that's connected to a Time Warner cable internet modem. I wanted to see if I could get faster speeds through an ethernet connection. Whenever I connect the cable, the network utility app shows a 100 Mbit/s connection. Unfortunately, safari or firefox won't connect. I also configure the ethernet port to DHCP, but still my browsers won't connect.

On an Apple support forum, a poster recommended deleting this file, Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.network.plist. I tried this, it didn't work so I undid the deletion.

Any suggestions??
