Built in iSight green light is stuck on?

I never ever use the built in isight but yesterday after starting up the light turned on and stays on - i have tried skype, ichat, imovie, and photobooth and they all work fine with the camera - but the light stays on the system profiler says the firmware version is 1.84, what gives? is it really on? I have tried making a second user account and it stays on for that account also

is a intel iMac

any help would be great its driving me crazy

A drastic step would be to trash iChat and Photo Booth and then reinstall them from the disks.

happened to my roomates macbook... we tried a bunch of things .. but resetting the PRAM worked....not sure why..

Oddly, I have the exact same issue, but on a PowerPC iMac. The fix is to push the back of the Mac inward, which makes the light shut off - albeit temporarily. It always comes back.
