Rockstar Games has officially released Bully: Anniversary Edition on mobile devices for $6.99, including iOS [Direct Link] and Android. The launch of the mobile app for the game comes ten years after Bully originally launched in the fall of 2006 for the PlayStation 2.

The new "Anniversary Edition" includes all of the content from the game's "Scholarship Edition" -- which was a graphical enhancement that added a few more features onto the game two years after its original release -- as well as including a few new mobile-focused updates of its own. Bully: Anniversary Edition has gained support for high-resolution displays, enhanced graphics, improved lighting and textures, and controls redesigned for touch gameplay.

On top of all of its new graphic overhauls, a new multiplayer component has also been added, called "Friend Challenges." The turn-based mode lets players compete in head-to-head "arcade style mini-games," using Bully's prep school classroom theme to see who can dissect frogs the fastest, solve word problems, and more. The full list of features for Bully: Anniversary Edition are listed below:

Wish this would come to the Apple TV. If games like this would come to the Apple TV. it would increase its viability as a gaming platform.

The issues is the requirement that all games/apps be fully playable with the Siri remote, which is not in anyway capable of being a game controller for much more than a side scroller or a racing game. If Apple drops that restriction and lets developers build specifically for MFI Game Controllers I think we'd see the quality of games on the Apple TV skyrocket.

I too am unhappy about the state of gaming on the ATV4. I figured there would be some really good games by now. For some reason, I misread the article a few weeks ago about the new Nintendo Mario Run game. I thought it said it was coming to the ATV also. I guess it is not.

The lack of good games on the ATV4 is kind of sad. I wonder why games like Infinity Blade never made its way to the Apple TV? It seems like a perfect game for both the Siri remote or the controller.

That was first thought too. If it had it would of been an instant buy for me. I'love likely still give it a go on iOS since control support is included.

No, Apple dropped that requirement back in June.

Actually Apple has dropped that requirement. I also thought this was the case, but it was changed like six months ago.

it seems like maybe Apple may have ruined any chances of the ATV4 becoming a gaming box by first requiring developers require the siri remote. Now that Apple has changed their mind on the remote requirement, it seems like developers have no interest in bringing nice games to the tvOS.

Chair (the company behind Infinity Blade) doesn't exist anymore. Epic took them out behind the barn and shot them. :-(

And it seems like porting to the ATV would be so much easier than to the phones, since they wouldn't have to redo the control scheme for touch. There are a lot of classics getting ported to iOS and I just wish they'd all move to the ATV as well.

Great game, but I cringe at the thought of tryikg to play it with touch controls. Knights of the old republic was great on my iPad until I got to the swoop races. Then it all fell apart and I nearly threw my iPad across the plane in frustration.

That restriction was dropped in tvOS 10. Games can now require a controller.

This is one of the few Rockstar games I haven't played. Maybe I should pick it up, but I've still got a backlog of games to play through like Skyrim Remastered and some Fallout 4 DLC before Halo Wars 2 drops in February. Wish this supported Apple TV. Seems trivial since it already supports external controllers.

So what's next then? GTA IV? The latest iOS devices are roughly on-par with the Xbox 360 in Gflops. Not exactly sure, but things like Metal might make them even more powerful. And if the Nintendo Switch is as powerful as it's supposed to be, then it won't be long before iOS devices are also running games that look as good as Skyrim Remastered. I know the Switch isn't out yet, but it's what I've always wanted the iPhone or iPad + gamepad to be like with quality AAA content. Hopefully it lives up to the hype as it's the first portable game system that I will buy since before I got my iPhone in 2007, which was the PSP. After getting an iPhone I just didn't see the point, but the Switch is interesting and definitely something I won't carry with me everywhere but will keep in my bag and play during lunch breaks at work. Wish the iPhone could also be that device somehow.

I'm really hoping that Rockstar circles back around to it now that you can require a controller for gameplay. I would even buy some of the older GTA games for like the 10th time.

Also: patiently awaiting the iOS port of Vice City Stories. Its the only GTA game I haven't played from start to finish, I believe.

Apple did this iOS 10, games on Apple TV no longer require the Siri remote and instead can be programmed to require a game controller only, hopefully we will start to see more games released on Apple TV over the next 6 to 12 months.

The Steelseries Nimbus is probably one of the best gaming-related investments I've ever made. I finally went back and played a bunch of iOS ports like KOTOR, FFVII-IX, and the GTA series that I could just never get into with touch controls. It really is a great little controller. Works flawlessly with OpenEmu on the Mac as well (so long as you aren't playing a game that requires a select button; it has none).
