Two things to know about the Apple bumper case - which I do like by the way.

1. The cutout on the bottom for the dock connector is precise to the Apple sync cable. So if you have any other car charger or other cable for charging, it will not fit. In my case I have an xtrememac car charger that is a powerplug and cable. I simply unplugged the cable from the usb in the powerplug and inserted the white Apple sync cable for charging.

2. The cutout on the top for the headphone jack is precise to the Apple earbuds. So if you use other headphones or a cable in your car, it most likely will not completely seat for listening to music. I will look when I get home but I think I have an adapter for the original iPhone with recessed headphone jack that was made by Belkin or Griffin that fit the recessed jack and allowed you to plug any headphone plug into it. I can attach that to the end of my car cable so it fits into my case - that is if I still have it.

Still, I do like the Apple bumper case, I just wish those two cutouts were bigger to accommodate other headphone jacks and dock plugs better. Yet I don't think it is something I would try to solve with an xacto knife.

Edit: Belkin adapter for headphone jack.

Griffin has one too that comes with a splitter called the smartshare + adapter.
