I'm guessing there must be some glitch in their system. I'm just sitting here working and get this email. I do eat at Burger King every 1-2 weeks and always use mobile ordering, but my last order was 4 days ago (and I already received an email receipt for that). This shows a blank order and blank location. I double-checked to be sure there was no pending charge on my credit card and there was not. Very odd!

SAME THING JUST HAPPENED TO ME!! But for me, I literally have never eaten BK a day on my life and have never used their app but there was an account in my name with my PRIMARY email address!! Wtf. I can’t edit the info at all nor can I delete the account.

I got the same email today and I thought my stuff was hacked. It's crazy because I also got one of those Paypal security codes this morning (someone tried logging into my account) then I got this from BK. I thought it was tied together but I guess it's not since tons of people got these receipts. I'm worrying hackers are being all to common, I hope this was just a glitch at not a hacker.

Got the email too. I don't use the app. Never even downloaded or signed up for the app. Never placed an online order before. The only thing they could have my email from is when I posted a complaint/bad review about one of their stores.

Yes, but at the same time it's become all too common for companies to grab data that they don't need, making a target for the hackers in the first place.

A few days ago I was looking to buy an appliance. I clicked through to buy, which popped up a single page asking for name, address, payment details etc. I entered my name and email, then decided against it and closed the page without submitting. Three hours later I got an email from them, "we see you didn't complete your purchase". So they used a script to slurp my unsubmitted personal data and then emailed me... with a message in the footer claiming that they respect my privacy.

A little off-topic for BK, but still...

I had the same thing happen before.

Yes, got that too.
The concern now is: it could totally be a marketing stunt, now “Burger King” is in the heads of millions of people (it is in mine), it‘a (or might be) going viral in social media, etc.

I never use or have ever used their app to order (I end up going to a BK joint, maybe once a year), so would be curious to know if recurrent users got it too or just dormant ones.

Agreed, legit worry, in this always online always connected era we are at I got no doubts that hackers are thriving and in ever increasing numbers.
Can’t wait for those new account authorization methods that are meant to curb phishing and forgotten/reused passwords to arrive.

That's even odder! About 10 years ago or so I received an emailed receipt from Apple for an iTunes gift card that I had not purchased. When I logged into my Apple account, I noticed my address and credit card number had been changed! Not sure what the scam was there since they didn't use my card to make the purchase.

At least one person commented here saying they received this same email even though they've never created a Burger King account/used their app.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one. Thought someone had stolen my identity for a moment when I first got the email notification. Funnily enough I had tried to make a mobile order at the local Burger King a few weeks ago but gave up when it couldn't complete the checkout process. BK needs to get it together.😐
