For over a year I have been burning CDs with the MacMini with no problems.
Lately, the CDs are not useable in CD decks. I have tried all the routes. Burning from the iTunes window, dragging the files to the disk and burning from the CD window. Selecting the CD and burning with the file pull down command.
Typically, when I burned a CD I could eject it and reinsert it and it would launch and appear in iTunes when I inserted it back into the computer. The last ones I have made do not do that. When I open the disk and click on a file, Quicktime launches and they will play in QT mode. Put them in a CD deck and I get nothing. Deck meters look like they are playing but nothing happens except an occassional popping noise.

Have I modified some setting? or is my optical drive about to die?
Is this a Apple Genius question?

Thanks,
Rick

If your computer can read the disc but it's not showing up as an audio CD, sounds like you may not be burning a proper audio CD. Check your burn preferences in iTunes. Or else, have you switched to a new brand of CD media recently?

make sure itunes is burning it as an audio cd. the slower your burn it the higher the chances of success
