I am running the latest iTunes on my iMac running 10.3.9.
I bought for the first time some music on the itunes website.
I plays just fine on the Mac but I seem unable to burn
a CD so that it can be read by my Sony or Philips DVD
player. I have tried Toast without sucess. I know there is some
copy protection but it should NOT be on the first or second copy, should it?
HELP!

Okay, big font....

Slow down. You have music you want to burn on a CD. Are all the songs protected / purchased songs, some of them, or none of them?

Are you trying to burn an audio CD or an MP3 CD? You cannot burn an MP3 CD with protected songs. All audio CDs should be readable in your Sony. You cannot burn protected songs with Toast, as far as I know, just iTunes.

Go to iTunes -> Preferences -> Advanced -> Burning and make sure Disc Format: Audio CD is chosen. Feel free to check or uncheck the two options underneath. Any CD you burn with this setting should be fine. It will be a standard < 79 minute audio CD that generally any CD or DVD player should be able to read.
