Burning a DVD

so is there a program that comes with macbook or does finder do all the work? I wanna erase a dvd-rw and then burn some data...

That's a Finder thing. However, I'd recommend Roxio Toast, I've got an older version and it's fantastic, especially for burning movies.

ok, now that I know it's a finder thing... how do I do it?

Erase the disc with Disk Utility (Applications > Utilities). Burn with File > New Burn Folder in menu bar at the top.
