What is the cheapest, most simplest way to burn a .avi file onto DVD?

Preferably a free, open-source application is ideal... and if someone can post a step by step as well that would be great!

I downloaded Simply Burns but the interface is not straightforward and Im having trouble understanding how to ultimately burn my .avi file!

Thanks a lot!!!!:apple::apple::apple::cool::cool:

Would iDVD do the job?

It might not be the fastest, but I have burned dvds with it before.

If iDVD has trouble with .avi's, then use iSquint to convert it to .mp4 first.

iSquint states that its an "ipod video converter" does this mean it wont convert avi?

It converts various file formats, including .avi to .mp4. iDVD definately works with .mp4, but it might with .avi too.

Just put the settings to the same resolution as the .avi file and set a high bitrate and you won't lose too much quality.
