Burning audio book to CDs - how to...

I purchased and audio book on CD. I now have it in iTunes and am wanting to make a copy to keep in the car...don't want the originals to get scratched. Anyway, the chapter splits won't work on the recordable cds and on the 2nd disk, if I burn it the way it will allow me to, I will end up with over 300MB of unused disk space. Is there any easy way to burn these in order and change the way the chapters are divided without the cd stopping in mid sentance or something that would make going from one cd to the next not flow well?
