Burning AVI media

I'm having trouble burning AVI media on to a DVD-R. I've attempted to use Toast, Burn and iDVD with no success. I can't even covert the files with those DVD burning software. Do I need a specific AVI to Mac converter?

At least Toast and iDVD uses Quicktime to convert, so the first step is to make sure they play properly in the Quicktime player. Install Perian, then try again.

Or try converting using MPEGStreamclip. Export to Quicktime using the Apple Intermediate Codec option.

I installed Perian. Worked! I then used Toast to convert and burned the media to a DVD-R. Quality leaves much to be desired. Good enough. Thanks for helping.
