Burning avi to dvd

i am trying to burn .avi's onto a dvd so that it will play in most dvd players. how do i make the .avi into a video_ts file so that i can burn it in popcorn

I would like to know this as well. What is the EASIEST way to take an existing AVI file and burn it to a DVD which will play in most standard DVD players?

maybe try MPEG stream clip (which is free...google it) and see if you can get it to a format either Popcorn or iDVD can understand.

I use burn to convert the file and burn it.
Be sure to check of the box that makes fully compatible DVD's to make it playable anywhere.
I have had a couple avi's that don't convert properly with the sound out of sync, but they are the exception rather than the rule.
