Burning avi to playable dvd using a pro.

Since the new macs dont seem to come with idvd is there any free software that will allow me to put a .avi file onto a dvd and play it on a standard dvd player?

Toast isn't free, but it's what I use. I don't know of any freeware that converts .avi to VIDEO_TS for standard DVD players.
