burning cd's mp3 cd vs audio cd

i have an i mac with MATSHITA DVD-R UJ-85J: as the superdrive. anyway as of late some times it will only burn 59 mb worth of musi and some times as much as 82 mb of music. then when i burn using MP3 it shifts the songs around in alphabetic order. any suggestions?? i have the burn speed down to 12x i have the newest itunes installed( i dont really like it but someone here downloaded it) any suggestions short of getting a new external drive??its driving me crazy. this has only started happening for the past few weeks. thanks in advance

Did it start happening with iTunes 9? I myself am still on 8 as I am not feeling good about 9 yet. You you have toast or any other burning software. If so i might try that and see if that fixes it. If not, then it most likely is the drive itself.

yup it started with itunes 9 i'll try toast and see - hope its not the drive
