Hey

How long does it usually take to burn a movie (approx 700mb - 1GB lasting roughly 2hours) on a new macbook pro 13" ???

My friend has an macbook alu and she said it took her 6 hours to burn a movie. We have a hunk a junk PC with a DVD burner and took 2 hours to burn a DVD.

Anyway I can speed things up?!?

Cheers

That sounds like something is wrong. My PC is using a dual layer DVD-R burner that i'm pretty sure is slower then the superdrive in macs, and it burns 4.35gbs in around 10 minutes.

Heck i've had dvd burners from way back when they were first new, and they burned full sized dvds faster then what you just posted.

my thoughts exactly - my 2009 13" mbp burns 4gb DVD's in minutes

Was it encoding (first run) iDVD menus and video? The first run usually takes a while due to that. Burning projects which have already been encoded are much faster, around 1/8th the time.

Ok i've just put a movie on my desktop, its 1.59GB big. Just put it into iDVD and set it up and its says its going to be 4hr 15min

It says its encoding!!!
