Sorry if this question seems elementary to some of you but I have never even tried burning a dvd with any of my machines. It never seemed to be an easy process so I just never bothered. Now I have a lot of media stored on my Lacie external drive that I use as sort of a media hub for all of my machines and most of the video content is .avi. Does iDVD burn .avi to disc or maybe Roxio Toast? If so, is it a fairly simple process?

iDVD will do you what you want, but you can only fit 2hrs of video on a single-layer disc, and you have to up-convert frame-by-frame, so it can take a little while.
