I have a new iMac and will be editing Video footage using iMovie.

I will eventually want to burn these to a DVD which is watchable on a UK DVD player

What will be needed and what is the best way to achieve this.

Many thanks

You will need dvd burning software and an external dvd burner.

Burn is free software, and is the usual free one that's recommended:
http://burn-osx.sourceforge.net/Pages/English/home.html

If you are willing to pay then Roxio's Toast is, again, the recommended one. If you're happy just to by the download rather than the disc, then you might want to use the US site:
http://www.roxio.com/enu/products/toast/titanium/overview.html

It's a lot cheaper than the UK site:
http://www.roxio.co.uk/eng/products/toast/titanium/

Both Burn and Toast to pretty much the same thing in pretty much the same way. Toast just has a fancier interface and a few more menu options. Just be sure to create a video dvd if you want it to play in a dvd player.

I've tried both and got the required results, but I have iDVD so still use that.

These Samsung dvd burners should be fine for you.
