I created a Disk Image in iDVD on my eMac.

I transfered the Disk Image to the iMac (Intel 2ghz core duo, Matshita UJ-846).

In Disk Utility, the eMac said Max burn speed was 4X. The iMac said the Max was 2X.

These are new DVD-R disk that are "Labled" 16X single layer (Office Depot Brand).

I started the burns at the same time just to see and the eMac smoked the iMac.

What gives?

The eMac never shows 8X either. Am I doing something wrong or is it the DVD disk?

Burn speed is dependent on the media used AND the capabilities of the DVD burner.

The media says on the lable 16X.

The iMac has a Dual layer burner which I expected to pull off at least 8X on single layer media but only pulle 2X.

The eMac has an 8X burner, but only pulled 4X.

I don't think I have ever gotten the expected results on any DVD burner that I've ever used.
