Burning Full Capacity in OS X

Hi all,

I am trying to birn 4.42GB worth of Data to a DVD using the finder. However, when I try to do so I get an error saying that the disc that I have inserted is not big enough to burn to. Is there a way that I can harness the full capacity of my DVD's?

A standard one-sided DVD can hold 4,700,000,000 bytes. Divide that by 1024^3 (bytes/GB) and you get ~4.377GB. So you are over the limit by about 50MB.

That's because 4.42GB is too big. The actual capacity of a DVD-R is 4.3772GB, or 4,700,000,000/1024/1024/1024. Sorry.
