Alrighty you guys, I just uninstalled 21 applications from my Phenom computer just so I could get my Mac up and running, here's what happened:
I decided to put YDL on my iBook completely forgetting that there's not Flash Support with PPC Linux (PPC = PowerPC for those who aren't retro haha jk). Anyways, I watch videos on Hulu, Youtube, Metacafe, etc. so I needed flash. I decided to go back to OS X.
Low and Behold I lost my OS X CD, but luckily had a backup DMG that was the Mac OS X DVD. YAY I can back it up easily... WRONG! I went through trying to convert the image to a smaller format where I only had Single Layer DVDs. I used Transmac, PowerISO, UltraISO, etc. etc. etc. (a total of 21 different programs) to try and make it smaller to get it to work. Finally, I broke down and bought some Dual-Layer DVDs. I used Transmac to remake the DMG and UltraISO to convert it to an ISO file so I could burn it. I tried to burn the DMG directly to the disk (UltraISO can read DMGs and burn them to a disk), and that DVD failed. My last option was to create an ISO and try it that way. The ISO finally worked.
I've been trying to get my computer back up and working for 14 hours now, I stayed up from 12 till now... oops make that 15 1/2 hours, just to get my old iBook with OS X on it. As we speak the OS is installing and almost finished.
That's my horror storry complete with 8 cups of coffee, 3 cans of pepsi, and 4 DVDs wasted. Phew what a day, I need some sleep.
