Anyone got one of these little gizmos? Any recommendations as to the best models, or the best models for a Mac, would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, but FWIW I picked up an IrisCard 4. It doesn't have all the extra functionality on a Mac as it does on a PC, but it scans the cards, give you an image you can save and lets you export the contact file as a vCard. Then, you just double-click the vCard to put the contact in your Mac Address Book.

The instructions suggest that you can export "direct" to a Mac Address Book, but I haven't figured out how to do that yet.

Too bad you couldn't wait a while longer, Neat Receipts for Mac has been released (albeit without business card support--yet). Definitely a killer app, been using it (on the Windows side) for about two years and love it!

I believe that I can use the IrisCard scanner to scan receipts, which is something I'm going to try as Quicken (which I run in a Parallels VM) allows you to attach a scan to an account entry.

Can't install update on 10.5.3

Hi Rayward -

I just got an IRISCard Pro 4 (to replace an earlier version that no longer
works in Leopard), and while the v3.6.3 s/w works fine, I can't install the
3.6 -> 4.0 upgrade. I'm still waiting to hear from the IRIS folks (left v-mail
and e-mail messages), and there are rumors of needing some sort of
"patch" to get this to run properly in Leopard.

Do you have this patch? Can you post a link if you do?

And did you try the "Send" button in the CardIris s/w? It should go straight
to your AddressBook (I have mine set to go to Now Contact). I can confirm
3.6.3 sends scans fine to my AddressBook without any difficulty, but I need
to figure out why it doesn't send to Now Contact.

Thanks . . .

Update - 4.x doesn't work with Leopard

I just got off the 'phone with IRIS tech support. They have a problem
with 4.x installations on Leopard, and are working on a solution. They
said they'll put something on their web site FAQ to tell us what's going
on and maybe when to expect a fix.

Also, I confirmed that I can no longer export cards to Now Contact (this
used to work in the 3.0/3.1 days with Tiger). Again, a known problem,
but no solution. A possible workaround is to Send to AddressBook and
then Export to Now Contact - yuck . . .

That's all I know . . . :)
